The Fall 2015 Knovel Academic Challenge Pre-registration is Live!
This past spring, thousands of STEM students from over five hundred institutions around the world took part in the Knovel Academic Challenge (KAC), an immersive problem-set based competition built from real-life engineering exercises and scenarios. We are thrilled to announce pre-registration is now live for the free 5-week Fall Knovel Academic Challenge. Please note, in order to participate this fall, all students and faculty must register (or re-register if you participated in the spring).

The game launches on Monday, September 28 at 12:00:00 AM PST and continues through Sunday, November 1 at 11:59:59 PM PST. Share The Challenge with your STEM community!
What is the Challenge?
The Knovel Academic Challenge is a weekly problem-set based global game for undergraduate and graduate engineering students. The first problem-set will go live on Monday, September 28. On every following Monday for 5 weeks -- until Sunday, November 1 -- a new problem-set containing 7-10 multiple choice questions will be posted.
Over the span of The Challenge, students will log in with their KAC credentials to solve that week's problem-set, and earn points based on their performance while competing for weekly and grand prizes. Weekly winners will be announced each week, and grand prize winners will be announced at the end of the 5 weeks.

*Submission time of problem sets is not a factor when choosing prize winners in the case of a tie.
Compete for Points & Prizes
Weekly Prize: The student with the highest points from that week will receive a $100 Amazon gift card
1st Place Grand Prize: The student with the highest accumulation of points at the end of The Challenge will receive an Apple iPad Air II with Wi-Fi 16Gb
2nd Place Grand Prize: The student with the second highest accumulation of points at the end of The Challenge will receive a SONOS PLAY:1
Challenge within The Challenge: The students with the highest score from each of the top ten scoring schools will each receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card

IEEE Xplore now integrated with new IEEE Collabratec site

Dear IEEE Xplore Subscriber,

With the recent release of IEEE Xplore on 25 August, IEEE introduced integration with the new IEEE Collabratec™ site.

IEEE Collabratec is an integrated online community where technology professionals can network, collaborate, and create -- all in one central hub.

The IEEE Collabratec online community offers a suite of productivity tools and is available to technology professionals around the world with exclusive features for IEEE members and institutional subscribers, like you. IEEE Collabratec can help users:

arrow.jpg Save time during the research process by providing tools for networking and collaborative group work.
arrow.jpg Access specialized online tools to find global collaborators for research project development and implementation
arrow.jpgCreate virtual workspaces where you can assemble global research working groups — with the ability to easily add people to any group in real time
arrow.jpg Enjoy time-saving tools for managing the documents associated with your project by creating a research collection accessible to all participants in the private grouparrow.jpg Leverage current IEEE subscription access through IEEE Xplore

Institutional users and IEEE members will be permitted to form up to 50 Private Groups with up to 300 participants per group. This is an added benefit for users with IEEE subscriptions and IEEE members.

To get started, please visit the IEEE Xplore Resources page for instructions on how to use IEEE Collabratec for the first time.

Attend the Free Live Webinar: My Knovel Goes Mobile | Take Your Engineering Content "ToGo"

When: Thursday, September 17 at 11 AM EDT
Are you or your engineers registered Knovel users? If so, have you used My Knovel to save content to your account so you can easily go back and reference it at a later time? Since the launch of My Knovel in 2009, more than half a million items have been saved to My Knovel accounts. In this webinar, Technical Solutions Manager, Rich Garvin will showcase how we have enhanced the My Knovel experience by enabling users to organize their accounts, create search alerts, make annotations to content items, and make searching easy within My Knovel content itself.

Rich will finish the session by presenting how My Knovel ToGo enables users to take their My Knovel content offline and reference it at any point of need.
